10 years. More than 10,000 volunteers. Over 80,000 volunteer hours.
Volunteerism isn’t just something we do. It’s who we are.
“I’m grateful to be part of the cooperative family and I am thankful to be part of it with you.” CEO of Middle Tennessee Electric Cooperative Chris Jones told volunteers yesterday. “I’m sincerely grateful for your heart of service and to serve those that we serve here in Smyrna, Tennessee. I’m proud to be a part of you. I know you’re proud to be a part of the co-op family too. What we do has virtue to it. The ability and opportunity to serve makes a difference. We can invest ourselves in jobs that make a difference. And I am so grateful to be part of this effort that has characterized America for so many years. We know because of who we are and the hearts we have, we have a great future ahead of us. Our service will distinguish us no matter what is on the horizon. As we serve others as we serve those today, we will shine as a light within the world with all we do.”
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of our commitment to community through the Touchstone Energy Community Service Project, more than 120 volunteers from electric cooperatives across the country joined forces to makes worksite improvements in Middle Tennessee EC’s service territory in Smyrna, TN. With partnership from with United Way, Wherry Housing Co-op, Middle Tennessee Electric Cooperative and Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association (TECA), Touchstone Energy volunteers made a lasting impact on this neighborhood and inspired others to do the same
Thanks to the dedication and tireless work of our volunteers through landscaping, demolition, lighting, organizing clothing donations, distributing food to local resident and painting projects for the local community and learning centers, local residents were #TouchstoneEnergyblessed.
We’d like to extend appreciation to the committed volunteers who made this day possible.
