Disaster Preparedness | Does Your Co-op Have A Plan?

Earlier this month, Hurricane Joaquin swept through the Carolinas and the east coast, causing epic rainfall, thousands of outages, power line damage, along with road and bridge closures.

Today, it is now more important than ever to review your cooperative’s disaster preparedness.

Click here to read how Tideland EMC turned the challenge of adverse weather into an opportunity to build member engagement after Hurricane Irene made landfall in the co-op’s territory in late August 2011. Tideland learned that the best way to handle these challenges is to plan ahead, invest in redundant systems, be willing to spend the money to pre-position resources, and proactively communicate with members, before, during and after the storm.
