Hurricane Harvey has devastated parts of Eastern Texas and Western Louisiana. Our member co-ops in Texas and Louisiana have been working around the clock to restore power to the affected region and help their communities recover from this tragic event.
Many of you have reached out wondering how you can support relief and rebuilding efforts.
As NRECA CEO Jim Matheson explains, “There are many methods of giving and many organizations accepting relief donations. If you are interested in helping cooperatives specifically, the Cooperative Development Foundation’s (CDF) Disaster Recovery Fund will focus specifically on addressing damages that area co-ops have suffered. CDF has agreed to prioritize the needs of electric cooperatives in their charitable response to the hurricane based on NRECA and NRECA member contributions. You can visit this webpage to donate to CDF’s Disaster Relief Fund and direct your contributions to co-op communities.”
In addition, you can provide support through these local charitable funds.
Please help us demonstrate the cooperative principle “Concern for Community” by giving back and keeping those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in your thoughts.

Since this post, Hurricane Irma has struck Florida and the Southeast, and fires have continued to blaze across the Pacific Northwest.
Our co-op community has been supporting one another during this time.
Please keep our co-ops, linemen, member-owners and all those impacted by these natural catastrophes in your thoughts and prayers.
We will continue to share relief support efforts you can participate in as they become available to us.
