Many members have asked us where they can order our super cool, super comfy “We Have the Power To Do This” T-shirts, and we’re excited to announce that they are now available at touchstoneenergy.com/memberorders alongside banner-up rentals, playing card promotional items and free brochures. But wait…that’s not all. We’ve also worked with our friends at HGTV’s Home Town show, based in Laurel, MS, to provide coffee mugs and prints that also feature this slogan for rural reviatalization.
In 1901, the Laurel Mercantile Co. opened in downtown Laurel, MS and supplied dry goods and work wares until the 1930s. As industry changed, so did the needs of the town, and eventually the doors closed. In 2016 a partnership was formed between the Napiers, Nowells and Rasberrys, three couples made up of family and long-time best friends. They’ve used their combined expertise to reopen Laurel’s bygone hometown store (with a focus on selling only American-made goods) and bring back the passion to their Home Town.
Touchstone Energy has been working with the group since 2017 to help our cooperatives identify and leverage their community’s own unique assets to spur economic development, strengthen workforce opportunities, capitalize on technological innovation and improve the quality of life for both current and future residents.
