Pre-conference workshop: Build a Main Street of the Future: Step-by-Step Creative Placemaking Workshop with Zach Mannheimer

Start the conference out right by attending our pre-conference workshop on Tuesday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We are teaming up with 2018 Keynote speaker Zach Mannheimer of McClure Engineering to bring you a 2019 pre-conference workshop that will set your community development plan into motion.

In 2018 Zach explained the theory of using unconventional methods for attracting creative minds, retaining and recruiting young people and boosting the economy of Des Moines, IA. Attend this workshop to learn the specific ways you can change your thinking and implement similar measures to empower your community.

General Session

Join us on Wednesday, May 8 as we kick off the day with General Session Two. Executive Director Lynn Moore will provide important brand updates. Then keynote speaker Lorie Vincent will take the stage to explain how small, actionable steps can lead to visible enhancements in your community.

CONNECT 2018 keynote speakers Zach Mannheimer and HGTV’s “Home Town” team Jim Rasberry, Mallorie Rasberry and Josh Nowell will join the community revitalization conversation for a panel discussion that will provide specific steps you can follow back home to make a big impact.

You won’t want to miss an important Main Street initiative announcement, as well as discover who will receive the 2019 Brand Champion award.

Social Media Playbook | May 8, 11:35 a.m.
In 2018, Touchstone Energy released a Social Media Playbook to help co-ops successfully set their social media strategies. Many across our network are implementing these best practices. Hear from the panel of co-op social media experts to learn how to create your social plans to reach your social engagement goals and objectives.

Digital Storytelling | May 9, 2:15 p.m.
It’s one thing to create a social media post. But making an integrated digital campaign is next level. Attend to learn how you can weave video, social media and traditional content together to tell your unique co-op story.

Also don’t miss Lynn Moore and Anne Harvey sharing young adult member engagement ideas with the NRECA Communications team on the main stage and in two breakout sessions.

Closing Reception

Ok! It might not be filled with content, but we can promise you networking opportunities at our closing reception. Join us at Pitch 25 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. There will be fun games, great food, craft drinks on tap, 20 TV screens to watch the game, a live band, dancing and the best company you’ll find in Houston.
